What decision has Starwood Preferred Guest® (SPG®) made regarding high-speed Internet for its members?
SPG continually seeks ways to expand and improve the best-in-class rewards and benefits we offer our most loyal customers. To that end, on March 1, we implemented complimentary in-room Internet access as an additional in-hotel benefit for our Platinum members.
In addition to this benefit, we offer complimentary Internet to all of our guests at our AloftSM, ElementSM and Four Points® by Sheraton hotels and resorts in North America. Additionally, all guests can enjoy complimentary Internet in the hotel lobbies of Sheraton® and W® hotels.
How does a member achieve Platinum Preferred Guest status?
Platinum is our highest tier of membership and is earned by having 25 eligible stays or 50 eligible nights within a calendar year. Platinum members are richly rewarded for their membership and receive complimentary upgrades to the best available room (including suites), a welcome amenity, complimentary access to the health club and Executive/Club floors, a 50% point bonus and access to an exclusive concierge and reservations line.
How does SPG compare with other hotel loyalty programs in offering high-speed Internet access?
Each program uses this as a benefit for their highest tiers of membership: Marriott provides access to members with 50+ nights; Hilton offers its Gold and Diamond members access as a choice among breakfast, upgrade or points; and Hyatt provides access to members in its top two tiers.

Will SPG consider expanding this offering to all guests in the future?
At this time we have reserved this benefit for our members who stay with us 50 or more eligible nights in a year, and we currently do not have plans to broaden the offering.
As a Platinum Preferred Guest, how do I take advantage of this Internet benefit?
When you arrive in your guest room, log on to the Internet. If you receive a prompt asking you to accept the hotel's Internet access charges, please accept them. Because you are a Platinum member, Internet access charges will be eliminated from your final hotel bill. If you have questions about your final hotel bill or still find Internet charges included, please see a front desk associate or contact your Platinum Concierge at 888-625-4991.
Where is complimentary Internet access available for Platinum Preferred Guest members?
Complimentary Internet access is available in guest rooms at all SPG hotels and resorts in 93 countries that offer Internet access. Each of our nine hotel brands participate; there are no exceptions.
Does the complimentary in-room Internet access only include wired access?
Platinum members may utilize whatever the hotel offers — wired or wireless — within guest rooms.

Where does Internet access exist outside of guest rooms?
Public and meeting-space Internet access varies by hotel and is not included with this benefit. Please see specific hotel property pages on SPG.com for further information.
Is it possible for multiple devices (e.g. laptop, iPod, etc) to be connected to the in-room Internet at one time, or is the benefit limited to just one device?
The benefit does not limit the number of devices that can access in-room Internet.
What type of stay is required for Platinum members to receive complimentary Internet access?
Platinum members can take advantage of complimentary in-room Internet access on both paid stays and redemption stays. In addition, the access can be enjoyed for the duration of the stay.
Are there exceptions to the new benefit?
As with all in-hotel membership benefits, complimentary Internet access will not be available for Platinum members who book through a third party and pay for that booking either at the hotel or directly to the third party. Third parties include wholesalers, tour operators and third-party online channels, including but not limited to priceline.com, expedia.com, hotels.com, hrn.com, hotwire.com, lastminute.com, site59.com, orbitz.com, travelocity.com, cheaptickets.com, quickbook.com, travelweb.com, lodging.com, yahootravel.com and travel.msn.com. Platinum members will still earn Starpoints® on Eligible Charges made during the stay.
