SPG-UBER BENEFITS PROGRAM – FAQS (EFFECTIVE AS OF OCTOBER 26, 2017)

If you have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to your SPG® Member account for the current calendar year, you will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits.
Yes, if you check-in for a Stay prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017 and have an Uber pick-up time prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits, you will earn 2 Starpoints for every U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent for fares on the Uber ride(s). Any rides taken after 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, even if taken during a stay that originated on or prior to December 17, 2017, will not earn Starpoints on the Uber ride(s). To earn Starpoints for any Uber ride the you must have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to your SPG Member account for the current calendar year.
Uber is an innovative technology company that utilizes a proprietary platform and mobile device application to connect passengers with drivers of vehicles for hire. Customers use the application to request a ride, track their reserved vehicle's real-time location, and make payment directly through the mobile application.
Starting February 25, 2015, if you are an active SPG member and have an Uber account, you may register to participate in the SPG-Uber benefits program through www.spg.com/uber by signing into your SPG Member account and using your Uber credentials to link your SPG Member account and your Uber account, provided that the name and email address used for both accounts are the same. You will not be able to register for the SPG-Uber benefits program by calling the SPG Customer Contact Center.
Yes. SPG Members may opt out of the SPG-Uber benefits program at any time by calling the SPG Customer Contact Center.
An active SPG Member who has an Uber account under the same name and with the same email address is eligible to register for the SPG-Uber benefits program. Starwood employees are not eligible for the SPG-Uber benefits program.
An active SPG Member without an Uber account may visit spg.com/uber to sign into his/her SPG account and from there create an Uber account (subject to acceptance of Uber's standard terms and conditions). SPG Platinum Members and SPG Gold Members will be eligible to receive a discount of up to $30 USD off their first Uber Usage (or the foreign equivalent of $30 USD based on the location of such first Uber Usage). SPG Preferred Members and Non-SPG Members will be eligible to receive a discount off their first Uber Usage in an amount that is equal to the then-prevailing market rate being offered by Uber in the location where the discount is being utilized. Registering to earn Starpoints with Uber alone does not keep an SPG member's SPG Member account active. If an SPG member registers for the SPG-Uber benefits program and earns Starpoints from Uber rides, the posting of those Starpoints will keep that SPG member's SPG Member account active. Please see the SPG Program Terms for full details on the SPG program, including to determine the ways that you may keep your SPG Member account from becoming inactive.
Starting February 25, 2015, if your attempt to register for the SPG-Uber benefits program through spg.com/uber fails, the website should provide you with a reason (e.g., the name or email on your SPG Member account does not match the name or email on your Uber account; your SPG Member account is inactive; or your Uber account is not recognized). Please contact the SPG Customer Contact Center to resolve the problem.
You will become eligible to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program 24 hours after you have both registered for the SPG-Uber benefits program and your first Stay has posted to your SPG Member account for the current calendar year. If you are registered for the SPG-Uber benefits program but do not have a Stay posted to your account for the current calendar year, you will begin earning Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program 24 hours after your first Stay within the current calendar year posts to your SPG Member account.
It is a stay for one or more consecutive nights at the same SPG Participating Hotel, where you paid an Eligible Rate, quoted your Starwood Preferred Guest number when you booked, and stayed in the guest room. This applies whether or not you checked out and checked back in during your stay. You can find full details in the SPG Program Terms.

Once you have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to your SPG Member account for the current calendar year, you will earn 1 Starpoint for every two U.S. dollars or its foreign equivalent denomination spent on fares for all Uber rides that are taken outside of a Stay, up to a maximum spend of $10,000 U.S. dollars or its foreign equivalent in a calendar year.

In lieu of any such Starpoints you may earn for any Uber rides that are taken outside of a Stay, you will also earn 2 Starpoints for every one U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent for fares for all Uber rides taken during a Stay at an SPG Participating Hotel, where the Uber ride pick-up time occurs at any time between the date you check-in for such Stay (any time between 12AM through 11:59PM local time on such date) through the date you check-out from such Stay (12:00AM through 11:59PM local time on such date).

No. Once you have earned the maximum number of base Starpoints for $10,000 U.S. dollars or its foreign equivalent in spend on Uber rides in a calendar year and are no longer able to earn base Starpoints for Uber rides in that calendar year, you will no longer be eligible to earn additional bonus Starpoints for Uber rides during any of your Stays at an SPG Participating Hotel in that calendar year. If you are registered for the SPG-Uber benefits program, have met all eligibility criteria and have a Stay in a prior calendar year, you will be eligible to earn for all Uber rides from January 1st through January 31st of the current calendar year, but after January 31st of the current calendar year, you will need to post a Stay to your SPG Member account within the current calendar year (i.e. after 12:00 A.M. on January 1st of the current calendar year) to continue to be eligible to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program for the remainder of the current calendar year. If you are registered for the SPG-Uber benefits program and have completed at least one Stay within the current calendar year, any base Starpoints that you earn for Uber rides will post to your SPG Member account within 2 to 4 weeks after the ride is completed. Any bonus Starpoints that you earn for Uber rides taken during a Stay will post to your SPG Member account within 2 to 4 weeks after the Stay has been posted to your SPG Member account.
If you are registered for the SPG-Uber benefits program and meet the eligibility requirements to earn Starpoints for your Uber ride, and it has been at least 4 weeks since your ride was completed, contact the SPG Customer Contact Center.
No. Any Uber rides completed before you register to earn Starpoints with Uber are not eligible to earn Starpoints.
No. You may only earn Starpoints for Uber rides charged to the Uber account that is linked to your SPG Member account in order to earn Starpoints with Uber.
