When can I register for the promotion?
SPG members must register by November 30, 2012, midnight ET, thereafter referred to as the "registration period."
Can anyone register for this promotion?
Any member may register at spg.com/betterbythenight. A non-member may join the complimentary SPG program and register simultaneously, also at spg.com/betterbythenight.
What are the dates during which I can earn bonus Starpoints®?
Each registered member may earn bonus Starpoints for eligible paid stays from October 1, 2012, through December 20, 2012, hereafter referred to as the "promotion period."
Will eligible stays or nights prior to registration count towards my earning?
Yes, as long as the member registers by November 30, 2012, any eligible paid stays or nights from October 1, 2012, through December 20, 2012, will count toward earning.
How can I earn double or triple Starpoints?
A registered member will earn double Starpoints on eligible one-or two- night stays or triple Starpoints on eligible stays of three or more consecutive nights at hotels and resorts participating in the promotion during the promotion period.
How can I earn the web and mobile app booking bonuses?
Registered members are eligible to receive 250 bonus Starpoints for each completed stay during the promotion period that was booked through spg.com or any Starwood hotel-branded website, including mobile web pages, and 500 bonus Starpoints for each completed stay during the promotion period that was booked through the SPG App for iPhone® or the SPG App for Android™.
How can I earn the foursquare® check-in bonuses?
Registered members are eligible to receive 250 bonus Starpoints for check-ins on foursquare during an eligible confirmed reservation in the promotion period. You must have your SPG account linked to your foursquare account in order to receive the bonus Starpoints (visit spg.com/socialcheckins to link your accounts).
At which Starwood hotels and resorts am I eligible to earn my reward?
A member may earn double or triple Starpoints at more than 1,000 participating properties worldwide. To view the complete list of hotels and resorts not participating in the stay offer, visit spg.com/betterbythenight. The booking bonus of either 250 or 500 bonus Starpoints can be earned by booking and completing an eligible paid stay at any hotel or resort that participates in the SPG program. The foursquare check-in bonus of 250 bonus Starpoints can be earned by checking in on foursquare during an eligible confirmed reservation at any hotel or resort that participates in the SPG program. A list of hotels and resorts that do not participate in the SPG program can be found at spg.com/t&c section 1.2.
Which websites qualify as Starwood hotel-branded websites?
Starwood hotel-branded websites include the following: spg.com, starwoodhotels.com, spg.com/resorts, sheraton.com, westin.com, whotels.com, lemeridien.com, stregis.com, theluxurycollection.com, alofthotels.com, elementhotels.com and fourpoints.com (regardless of whether the booking was made from a desktop computer or on a mobile web page).
Which SPG® mobile apps qualify for the 500 Starpoints® bonus?
Bookings made through the SPG app for iPhone®, the Chinese SPG app for iPhone and the SPG App for Android™ qualify for the 500 Starpoints bonus. iPad® bookings made through the SPG app for iPhone will also qualify for the 500 Starpoints bonus. However, please note: Bookings made through the SPG app for BlackBerry or the W® Hotels app for iPhone qualify for the 250 Starpoints bonus.
Is there a participating hotel and resort list for the web and mobile app booking bonuses, or for the foursquare check-in bonus?
No, all hotels and resorts that participate in the SPG program are eligible for the web and mobile app booking bonuses, as well as the foursquare check-in bonus, regardless of whether the property is participating in the SPG Better by the Night promotion. A list of hotels and resorts that do not participate in the SPG program can be found at spg.com/t&c section 1.2.
What qualifies as an eligible paid stay?
An eligible paid stay is any night at an SPG participating hotel or resort paying a qualifying rate that earns Starpoints as defined by the SPG Terms & Conditions (spg.com/t&c). Stays booked through pre-paid third-party channels, such as orbitz.com, expedia.com, travelocity.com, etc., are not eligible rate plans, and so the member may not earn Starpoints and will not qualify for any bonus offer.
How many Starpoints do I earn with double or triple Starpoints?
With double Starpoints, a member will earn four total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. With triple Starpoints, a member will earn six total Starpoints per eligible US$1 spent. Elite-level extra Starpoint earnings and other bonuses will not be doubled or tripled. Only the base 2 Starpoints per dollar earnings are double or tripled.
Is there a limit to the number of Starpoints I can earn?
No, bonus Starpoints earnings for the SPG Better by the Night promotion are unlimited during the promotion period.
If part of my stay was reserved using a Free Night Award or SPG Cash & Points, will my stay qualify?
No, Free Night Awards and Cash & Points do not count as qualifying stays for this promotion. Even if part of the stay is reserved using an Award and part is paid, the member will not receive bonus Starpoints for any part of the stay.
If I check in before October 1, 2012, or check out after December 20, 2012, does my stay earn the bonus?
Yes, as long as one night of the stay is within the promotion period, double or triple bonus Starpoints will be earned on every night during the entire stay (even if part of the stay falls outside the promotion period).
When will bonus Starpoints post to my account?
Bonus Starpoints will post to the registered members account within 2–4 weeks of each eligible paid-stay posting. Bonus Starpoints for web or mobile app bookings will post within 3 weeks of the end of the promotion period. Foursquare check-in bonuses will post within 2–3 weeks of each eligible paid stay posting.
Will I earn stay and night credits toward elite status?
A member will earn stay and night credits as he or she normally does while earning bonus Starpoints.
Can I take advantage of other bonus promotions at the same time?
Yes, however, each promotion earns bonuses independently of each other.
If I booked my stay prior to the promotion period, are my stays eligible for the web and mobile app booking bonuses?
Bookings made prior to the promotion period are eligible, but only eligible stays by a registered member during the promotion period will receive bonus Starpoints.
If I modify an existing booking through an eligible web or mobile app channel, will I receive the booking bonus?
Regardless of where a reservation is modified, members will only receive a booking bonus if the booking was originally made through an eligible web or mobile app channel.
Will I receive the booking bonus if I originally booked through an eligible web or mobile app channel, but then modify my reservation through a different channel?
Yes, if the original booking was made through an eligible web or mobile app channel, members will receive the bonus even if the reservation is modified through a different channel.
Will I receive the foursquare check-in bonus if the reservation is under another person's SPG account?
In order to earn Starpoints for your foursquare check-ins, the reservation must be in your name and associated with the SPG number you have linked with your foursquare account. If you have not yet connected your SPG and foursquare accounts, please visit spg.com/socialcheckins to link them.
